I have a confession to make: I finally joined Facebook. I resisted for a long time. In fact, my NOT joining FB was a point of pride for me. Alas, the old adage about pride and the fall is true, and I succumbed. I admit to being slightly addicted and can see how people spend hours on the site. I do not spend hours there, but I have used up much of my self allotted internet time to FB lately and hence, no blogging.
So, since I know you're chomping at the bit for it, here's a brief recap of the month of June.
Job Decision
I am not going back to work full time. As I stated in my last post, it was a hard decision and I wrestled with it for a long time. I feel very good about my choice, especially as the news from China has been encouraging these last two months. I'm going to work in the library at my old school for a summer program in July and August and I will continue to sub when the school year starts. As for the rest of my time, I have plenty of projects to keep my occupied and still plan to enjoy the "me time" while I can.
A Trip to the Beach
The Attorney's annual conference on South Padre Island took us to the beach for a few days. I got to enjoy sun, sand and water and the Attorney got his CLE credits for the year. We also got to eat good seafood (mostly) on the firm's dime, although that meant entertaining clients. The trip is always a win-win for me, although I did get a little sunburned, but not quite as much fun for the Attorney since he spends a good part of doing work related things.
Parental Visits
Both sets of parents made it to our fair city in June. Usually, June weather is pleasant, but this year was an exception and it was HOT! My folks helped out with some household projects (which I greatly appreciate since they were things I would not have tackled on my own). The In-laws actually stayed for more than 24 hours for a change, so we had lots of time to visit, eat good food and drive in the Hill Country to see the towns where the Attorney does some of his legal work. A good time was had by all, in spite of the fleas. (see below)
Pest Control
I finally gave in and called the exterminator when upon returning from the beach I found fleas jumping on me while relaxing on the couch. We've been fighting them on our own for while now, but we just couldn't get rid of them. They were in the yard, so Lola just brought new ones in every time she went out. Hooray for ABC Pest and Lawn! My poor folks had to help with the exterminator prep and then evacuate the house with the pets for several hours, but it was worth it. Even giving Pip a bath.
Vacation Bible School
I ended up being in the charge of the preschool portion of VBS kind of late in the game. It turned out to be really fun and I had lots of help during the actual VBS week. I love working with a theme and this year's "Prayer Safari" was a good one. I had 8 precious 4-5 year olds in my class and I think they left both educated and entertained.
Now it's July (yikes!). I intend to be a better blogger this month as some of the novelty of FB has worn off, so I'll see you soon!
